Christmas Savings

Take the stress out of
Christmas – start saving today!

Get ready for the festive season little by little throughout the year. You can set up and manage savings pots easily in our app, helping you keep your Christmas savings separate from your everyday money.

Christmas Savings Summary

Dividend rate

Savings held in the credit union attract a dividend (like interest).  The dividend rate is paid based on the credit union’s financial performance and market conditions.  It is not agreed in advance, but proposed and voted on at the AGM every January.  In 2025, the credit union paid 2%.

We always aim to pay as much as we can reasonably afford to.

How it works

The Christmas Savings Account is an optional savings account that can be opened alongside your Regular Savings account. It is designed to help you put money aside throughout the year for Christmas and other seasonal expenses.

You can fund your Christmas Savings Account by splitting part of your regular savings payment between your accounts. There is no minimum monthly amount required, but your total monthly savings across all accounts cannot exceed £500.

Unlike your Regular Savings account, money held in your Christmas Savings Account is not used as security for any loan you may have with us. Your savings remain separate and can be accessed whenever you need them.

How much can I deposit?

There is no minimum monthly saving requirement for this account. However, your total regular savings contributions across all of your accounts cannot exceed £500 per month.

The maximum account balance across all savings accounts is £120,000.

What is the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?

The FSCS protects you if the financial firm you’ve used has gone out of business. If the failed financial firm can’t pay your claim, The FSCS can step in to pay compensation.

Set up by the government, they are independent and their service is free to use.

Funds held in all your credit union accounts combined are protected under the Financial Services Compensation Scheme up to £120,000.

Visit fscs.org.uk for full details.

How do I manage my account?

Your online member services account allows you to check your savings balance and make withdrawal requests. You can change the amount you wish to save with us by sending us a secure message once logged into your account.
