Whatever the weather, we’re here for you this summer

For so many reasons 2020 so far has been a year to forget. The coronavirus pandemic and the lockdown have turned our lives upside down and many thousands of families have suffered the tragic loss of a loved one.

The team here at The Co-op Credit Union has not been unaffected, and we are so grateful to all of our key worker members who have worked hard in exceptional circumstances to keep the shelves stocked and caring for bereaved families in the Funeralcare business.

We hope that in some small way our facilities have helped you to manage the financial impact of the pandemic and the lockdown so that whatever stress and strain you have had to cope with, your finances have not been one of them.

That’s why that last month we introduced the Family Loan which is designed to help families spread the costs of bringing up children, using Child Benefit to make repayments. You can get your hands on up to £1,000 and spread the repayment over up to 18 months, allowing you to meet those lumpy costs while still having some of your Child Benefit in your back pocket for day to day expenses.

And as the country eases out of lockdown, there are suddenly more things to be spending that money on. Summer holidays are once again back on the agenda with the recent announcement of a list of countries we can travel to without the need to quarantine and British staycation destinations open for business once more with restaurants, pubs and other attractions beginning to welcome visitors. Our holiday loans are here ready for you when the time is right for your next break.

But we also understand that a holiday might not be a priority given the ongoing risk of the virus.
